FUN THINGS TO DO BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS!

 Wow, it’s August! Less than 4 weeks left before the kids go back to school. No worries there’s still plenty of time to squeeze in some last minute family outings.
I came up with a list of 10 ideas. Some are free and others are $80 and under for a family of 4.
1. Monkey Business Institute – This improv show was voted best of Madison 2013. It plays Saturdays starting at 5:30 at Glass Nickel Pizza on Atwood Ave. Cost is $6 for the all ages show. monkeybusinessinstitute.com
2. Troll Beach – Located right here in Stoughton the newly renovated sand bottom pool is a great way to stay cool. Open daily 12-5 $2.50 for kids and $3.50 for adults. Check it out I think you may be surprised. facebook.com/TrollBeachStoughton
3. Cave of the Mounds – Guided tours through this geologic wonder are $8 for kids and $16 for adults. caveofthemounds.com
4. UW Madison Geology Museum – This museum is free and you will see minerals, rocks, fossils and much more.  geology.wisc.edu/~museum
5. Betty Lou Cruise Ice Cream Social– View miles of beautiful shorelines while enjoying all you can eat ice cream. Sundays at 3:00 $20 per person.  bettyloucruises.com
6. Olbrich Gardens – This is a great peaceful trip. The outdoor gardens are free and the butterfly exhibit is $7 per person.  olbrich.org
7. Coffee Break Festival – August 17th 9-4 coffee sampling, car show, arts and crafts, music, and much more. stoughtonwi.com/coffeebreak
8. WI Veterans Museum – Go on a free scavenger hunt and discover all the amazing roles Wisconsin veterans have played in shaping our nation’s history.

9. Yahara River Trail – Start or end this hike on Division St. and swing past the newly renovated Luke Stoughton house. Of course it is free and could take you all day if you walk the entire loop. facebook.com/pages/Yahara-River-Trail
10. Lost Voyage WI Dells –  Embark on the 1.5 hour evening journey to solve a mystery.You could even win a reward! $22.54 adults $16.90 kids. dellslostvoyage.com
