Memorizing Names

Have you ever found yourself in a situation such as a party or an event where that are several people involved, and when you meet someone their name seems to go through one ear and out the other? Or even worse, someone who you met when you first came to the event comes up to you, and calls you by your name, and you can’t remember theirs?

One way to remember a name when you meet someone is to repeat their name by saying something like, “Hi Joe! It’s a great pleasure meeting you!” that will ensure you heard their name, and you said their name and put their name to their face. After repeating their name, keep trying to repeat it as in, “So, Joe, what do you do for a living?” and keep reinforcing that name deeper and deeper into your brain.

Another way to memorize someone’s name is to think of something weird when remembering their name. You could think of someone named Rose with the color red, or think of a rose, or even the smell of roses.

If you can practice things like this, it will be easy to memorizing any name!
