Outside In

Have you ever said/thought “Oh, I don’t need to really do much to get ready today, I have no one to impress”? Or felt not yourself so you cut corners in your morning beauty routine? Come on we have all been there. Well my goal is to give you all the reasons why you should always take a moment to look your best every day.
1. Look good feel good. It is a proven fact that our outer appearance affects our mood and self-esteem. On days I awake and feel “lazy” I purposely choose one of my best outfits so that I can overcome the lazy haze surrounding me. I have found that if give into the feeling and dress less than my usual routine I feed the negative voices and my day turns annoying, tiresome, and ugly. So on those days wear a bright shirt, put on an extra coat of mascara, and DON’T’ wear your hair in a ponytail.
2. Look good do good. When we feel good about how we look we perform better. Teachers have instilled dress codes during important exam taking because when we are dressed and put together we think better. Dress like a slug, feel like a slug, think like a slug…. before you know it you become a slug.
3. What do you mean you have no one to impress? You have yourself! And you’re the most important. Besides that you have your significant other who has been at work all day with others that probably took the time to put themselves together. And if there is no significant other you have all the people you come in contact with. Which brings us to my next point.
4. Ever been to a check out area and 2 checkers are open. One has her hair neatly brushed and styled. Her attire is clean and presentable. The other has hair that looks as if no attention was paid to it after waking up this morning. Her attire is rumpled and unkempt. Which lane would you choose? Subconsciously we form opinions on people we come in contact with. When a person is put together they are more approachable. Which makes sense who wants to be served by the person that looks like they don’t want to be there. Our body/appearance speaks before our mouths.

Last I leave you with a few quotes from Coco Chanel.

“Dress shabbily and they remember the dress: dress impeccably and they remember the women.”

“Every day is a fashion show and the world is your runway. So always dress your best and walk with confidence.”

“A girl should be two things, classy and fabulous.”

“Dress like you are going to meet your worst enemy today.”
