Do you love your hair stylist???

I am going to tell you the secret to finding the best stylist for you.

First make a list of what you are looking for in a stylist. Consider things like:

Convenience – Is the location and work schedule of the stylist conducive to yours?

Education/Training  –  Are you looking for a stylist that keeps up with the newest trends and techniques? When was the last time the stylist invested in training? It is important for them to keep a fresh vision on their career, even if you are not looking for the newest trend.

Scheduling – How long do you plan to spend at the salon? Do you prefer a longer pampering visit or are you on a schedule that allows you less time. Whichever one suits you best, make sure you are treated with appreciation and thanks. It will keep you happier and coming back longer.

Appearance – Is your stylist put together? Do they share similar styles as you? Are they investing in their image the way you want to invest in yours?

Personality– Honesty and trust is an important key to an enjoyable salon visit. You need to know that the stylist is looking out for your best interest. Trusting their suggestions is crucial to a relaxed visit.

Atmosphere– This is not just about a clean salon. The support the stylist receives in the salon and the role models they are surrounded by is going to ensure that stylist’s future and success in the business.

Price – Make sure you find a stylist that fits in your budget. You wear your hair every day, you need to be able to make sure your hair is looking it’s best at all times, not just when you have the money for it.

After you have made this list, start asking friends, family, and co-workers who their favorite stylist is. Anyone one that loves their stylist, loves to spread the word about them. Chances are by asking someone you communicate well with will likely give you a stylist that can communicate with you as well, BECAUSE the SECRET to having the best stylist is……… communication.

Quality of communication = Quality of service.

The ability to communicate with your stylist and be able to understand each other is priceless. It is THE most important element in your visit, because no matter how perfect your hair cut or color is if it is not what you wanted, you will see it as a wrong. So make sure you find yourself a stylist that can stop and LISTEN to you and your needs.

Last keep in mind that most stylist are trying to please many people, which often can be difficult. Your stylist loves to feel appreciated, positive feedback on something you love about your visit can fill their “cup”, which in turn will cause them to work harder to please you even more. Pass on your stylist name to your friends, family, and coworkers. Those referrals are the best compliment you can give.
